Jelena Jankovic

Coached by Nick Bolletieri. Favorite surface is hardcourt and favorite shot is backhand. Introduced to tennis at age nine-and-a-half by older brother, Marco, (six years her senior) at Club Red Star. Father, Veselin, and mother, Snezana, are economists; brothers, Marco and Stefan, are students. Entire family plays recreational tennis. Learned piano as a child. Favorites include the color red, orchids, actor Robert DeNiro, the movie Titanic and the book Bridge on Drina...Other sports interests include basketball and swimming. Relaxes by watching TV and reading. Favorite city is Rome because of its history. Most memorable experience was winning Australian Open juniors. Pet peeve is tardy people. Considers herself competitive, friendly and well-organized. Learned French at a diplomatic school in Serbia...Admires Monica Seles. Greatest appeal of being a touring pro is to see the world and learn about different cultures.
